Practical tip for rhetoricians

A very important guiding principle: “He who speaks with his heart is understandable to all.” (Albert Schweitzer)

Anyone who wants to inspire people with a cause or an idea, whether in politics, science, business or society, should speak from the inside out as often as possible. Above all, this means being one with what you want to express AND at the same time somehow being one with the interests, hearts and minds of your listeners. Presenting your own opinion and knowledge openly and honestly and at the same time meeting your audience where they are. Sometimes this is more factual/content-based, other times more emotional and very often both at the same time.

In our rhetoric seminars for beginners and advanced speakers, we train intensively on how to do this and how to develop this skill. It’s like sport: learning and training never stops for rhetoricians, as long as they are committed to it.
